Kremmling Depot Cleanup Party - Sept 3, 2008

If willing please bring hammers, wrecking bars and muscle. We need to remove shelves, small storeage room, and 1 by 6 from the north and south wall of the baggage area 40" from the floor. That will permit the building mover to attach jacks to the wall using the concrete floor for support when lifting the structure. We also have to move all the exterior electrical hardware stripped to then remove lead paint and seal. Other junk items will be moved out of the room and hauled to the local dump.

If you have any questions please contact Jim Yust at 970-724-3578.

Thanks in advance, Larry Gross V.P.of Museums Grand County Historical Asso. twelvedoz2@msn.com

Welcome to www.moffatroad.org, the official web site of the Denver & Salt Lake Historical Society and the Rollins Pass Restoration Association.

The purpose of the Denver & Salt Lake Historical Society is to research and preserve the history of the Denver & Salt Lake and its predecessor, the Denver Northwestern & Pacific.  Our primary function is to find and present unpublished material before it is lost forever.  The Society publication, the Corona Telegraph, covers the DNW&P and D&SL up to and including the merger years with the Rio Grande.  From time to time, we publish additional plans and data sheets that do not fit in a magazine format.   A members-only email group is available for on-line exchange of information.  Members are also invited to participate in Occasional Field Excursions to visit and discuss features of the railroad where it all happened.

The Rollins Pass Restoration Association, a non-profit organization, was incorporated in 1983 by a group of people who, like David Moffat, had a dream.  We would support the restoration of the Needle's Eye Tunnel, assist in preserving as much of the original road as possible, and work towards restoring the road to the condition as in 1979: a rural mountain road which would be used by two wheel drive vehicles.

At www.moffatroad.org, you will also find a bibliography and a set of links to items relating to the DNW&P, D&SL and other items associated to the Moffat Road.  In addition, be sure to check out Postmarked Arrow, An On-Line Scrapbook of The Moffat Road for a virtual ride on The Moffat.

All items can be accessed via the links at the left.

Thanks, and enjoy your ride!
